Academic Requirements

For students applying to the Bachelor of Investment Management program, the following Academic Requirements must be met:

• Applicants must have obtained a recognized academic pre-university diploma leading to university studies in their country. Studies in applied programs or at vocational or technical high schools are not normally eligible for admission consideration.
• While the minimum requirement is the equivalent of a B+ average, most programs will have higher requirements.
• Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.
• Applicants are reviewed on their high school transcript with particular emphasis on yearly averages and results in prerequisite subjects. Prerequisite subjects must have been completed during the last two years of high school.
• For international students, the following credentials are accepted:
  • Vietnam: Bàng Tót Nghiêp Phó Thông Trung Hoc (Upper Secondary School Graduation Certificate)
• Application deadlines are as follows:
  • Application for admission: January 15
  • Supporting documents: March 1

Language Requirements

Since English is the primary language of instruction and communication at McGill, you must demonstrate an adequate level of proficiency in English, regardless of your citizenship status or country of origin. McGill University has this language requirement to ensure that all students will have the opportunity for success in their chosen program. Below you will find information on when and how to provide proof of proficiency.

Proof of proficiency – required

In each case below, you must ensure that the official test results are sent directly to McGill University by the testing service. For IELTS, applications cannot be considered if test results are not available. Some programs require a higher score. Please consult the application requirements of your program of interest.

If you do not meet any of the Proof of proficiency - not required conditions, you must demonstrate proficiency in English using one of the following options:

• TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
  • IBT (Internet-Based Test): 86 overall, no less than 20 in each of the four component scores. The McGill Institution Code is 0935
• IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
  • A band score of 6.5 or greater (Academic module)
  • The regular Academic test and the UKVI test are all accepted.
  • McGill accepts only scores submitted electronically by an IELTS test center, and no longer accepts paper TRFs (Test Report Forms) directly from test centres and candidates.
  • McGill does not accept the IELTS Online test
  • McGill does not accept the IELTS One Skill Retake
• McGill Certificate of Proficiency in English or McGill Certificate of Proficiency – English for Professional Communication
  • Certificate or Proficiency awarded.

Please note that these are minimum acceptable scores. The McGill graduate department to which you are applying may require higher test scores. Please verify the program-specific requirements by visiting the department website. Please note that the Duolingo English Test (DET) is not accepted for admission to graduate programs at McGill University.
