The Agricultural and Heavy Equipment Technician program combines training in agricultural equipment and heavy equipment, preparing students to write the Alberta Apprenticeship exam. This one-year certificate program is designed for those who are mechanically inclined and interested in a career in the vast agricultural industry. Students will gain hands-on experience and knowledge essential for maintaining and repairing various types of equipment used in agriculture and heavy industries.

Program structure

The Agricultural and Heavy Equipment Technician program is structured to provide a comprehensive education over a one-year duration, divided into two semesters. The program includes:

  • Hands-on training in well-equipped shops
  • Learning on industry-leading technology
  • A two-week practicum in a repair facility with qualified journeymen
  • Preparation for writing Prior Learning Assessments for the first two years of the Agricultural Equipment Technician or Heavy Equipment Technician apprenticeships
