Program Overview
Discover the science of sport, physical exercise, and how it applies to human health with the Master of Human Kinetics program at Laurentian University. This program allows students to complete research related to physical education, sport, fitness, health, or wellness within both Canadian and international contexts. Students will develop their knowledge and practical skills in areas such as community health promotion, chronic disease prevention, and rehabilitation. The program offers two streams: the Major Paper Stream and the Thesis Option, enabling students to focus on their specific interests in human kinetics.
Program Structure
The Master of Human Kinetics program is designed to be completed in two years. Students can choose between two options:
- Major Paper Stream: Involves 18 credits of coursework and 6 credits for the completion of a major paper.
- Thesis Option: Involves 12 credits of coursework and 12 credits for the completion of a thesis based on an in-depth investigation.
Students will gain hands-on research and applied experience through an optional internship course. The program is delivered on campus, providing a collaborative learning environment. Throughout their studies, students will receive guidance and counseling for their thesis or major paper preparation from their supervisor and committee.
