Program Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity at Georgian College is designed to prepare students for careers in the rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity. Academic Requirements

To apply for the Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity (CYBE) at Georgian College, applicants must meet the following Academic Requirements:

Educational Background: Applicants should possess an Ontario College Diploma, Ontario College Advanced Diploma, Degree, or equivalent with a focus in computer science, computer engineering, or computer networking. Alternatively, equivalent professional work experience in computer networks, operating systems, and programming is acceptable.
Selection Process: Candidates are required to submit a current resume and a letter of interest to the Program Coordinator. The academic and experiential learning of all applicants will be assessed during the selection process.
Criminal Reference/Vulnerable Sector Check: A clear criminal reference check and vulnerable sector check are mandatory before placement. Students should obtain their criminal reference three months prior to placement, as checks conducted earlier may not be considered current. It is crucial to note that a record of criminal offences, for which a pardon has not been granted, may prevent students from completing their placements, thereby affecting their ability to graduate.
Personal Computer Requirement: Students are required to have a personal notebook computer that meets or exceeds the following specifications prior to the start of the program:
- Intel or AMD x86 64bit with Virtualization Technology, minimum 4 cores (6 cores or more recommended)
- Minimum 16GB RAM
- 500GB SSD

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

At Georgian College, the language of instruction is English. Therefore, all applicants whose first language is not English, or who come from countries where English is not an official language, must provide proof of English language proficiency.

Applicants must meet ONE of the following criteria to satisfy Georgian’s language proficiency requirements:

Completed three full years of study at the secondary school level in English in a country where English is a primary language (four years are required for BScN, Pharmacy Technician, and Addictions: Treatment and Prevention. Study must be in Canada only for Pharmacy Technician).
Completed one full year of study in an accredited postsecondary program in English in a country where English is a primary language (not applicable to BScN, Pharmacy Technician, and Addictions: Treatment and Prevention).
Possess an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or Canadian provincial equivalent) and English credit (Grade 12 U, M, or C) issued by a public or Catholic school board (not applicable to BScN, Pharmacy Technician, and Addictions: Treatment and Prevention).
Provide proof of graduation from one of the authorized Georgian College partner school pathway programs (not applicable to BScN or Pharmacy Technician).
Completed three years of study at a secondary private school in Ontario and received an Ontario Secondary School Diploma and English credit (Grade 12 U, M, or C).
