Program Overview

The Networking – Computer Systems Technician program, offered in a two-year delivery format, will allow you to quickly enter the job market.

Facilitated by the School of Engineering Technology and Applied Science, this diploma program will incorporate the latest in computer systems and network technology into its courses to reflect the ever-growing innovations of the digital revolution.

In the applied science program, you'll:

Delve inside computer hardware and learn the intricacies of operating systems;
Explore the most up-to-date computer systems and networks technology;
Learn about computer and network security;
Assemble and maintain systems that will empower users in creative, business and communication activities.

Once you complete the program, you'll be able to launch a career in technical support in the growing Internet, intranet, extranet and telecom networks fields.

Please note: Qualified college or university graduates with a background in networks may gain direct admission into Semester 3 of this two-year program and receive their Computer Systems Technician - Networking diploma in two semesters.

The Computer Systems Technician - Networking program is structured to provide a comprehensive education over a period of two years, divided into four semesters. This program is delivered in a hybrid format, combining both in-person and online learning experiences.

Academic Requirements

To apply for the Computer Systems Technician - Networking program, students must meet the following academic requirements:

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or mature student status (19 years or older).
Grade 12 English (C or U), or equivalent (minimum grade required).
Grade 11 Mathematics (M or U) or Grade 12 Mathematics (C or U), or equivalent (minimum grade required).

For international students, it is important to note that:

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

English Language Proficiency Requirements

All course work at Centennial College is taught in English, and success in our programs requires a high level of English language proficiency including communication, listening, comprehension, reading, and writing skills. As such, all applicants to Centennial College must demonstrate an acceptable level of English language proficiency to be admitted to their program of choice.

In order to meet the language proficiency requirement, applicants can demonstrate English proficiency through:

Previous education,
Recognized English upgrading, or
Recognized English proficiency tests or assessments.

Unless otherwise stated on a program’s webpage, English proficiency can be demonstrated by:

Successfully completing two or more consecutive full years at a recognized secondary or post-secondary education institution in a school where English is the primary language of instruction and communication.
Successfully completing a grade 12 college or university stream English course from a recognized Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) granting institution, or equivalent.
