The Early Learning and Care (ELC) program at Camosun College is designed to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills needed to work effectively with children, families, and communities. Program structure

The Early Learning and Care program is structured to be completed in a two-year timeframe, specifically 16 months. This full-time program includes:

  • Three practicum placements to gain hands-on experience.
  • A combination of 5 to 6 courses each term.
  • 11-16 class hours and 6-18 practicum hours each semester.
  • Additional homework hours ranging from 15-30 hours per week.

Students will engage in a rigorous curriculum that blends academic learning with practical experiences. The first year focuses on guiding children's behavior and developing communication skills, while the second year deepens knowledge in leadership and professional practice. The program is open to international students and includes supervised practice to ensure students are well-prepared for their future careers.
