Program overview

The Education Assistant and Community Support program is designed to equip students with the skills necessary to support individuals with acquired and/or developmental disabilities. This program emphasizes ethical and professional practices in various settings, including home, school, work, and community environments. Starting in September, students will engage in a comprehensive curriculum that prepares them to advocate for the rights of individuals with diverse needs, facilitating their inclusion and participation in community life.

Program structure

The Education Assistant and Community Support program is structured to be completed in 10 months on a full-time basis, with part-time options available extending up to 2 years. The program includes:

  • Three semesters of coursework and practical experience.
  • Supervised practice to enhance learning and application of skills.
  • Full-time study options, with a blend of online and in-person learning.
  • Practicum placements in community settings to gain real-world experience.

Throughout the program, students will participate in various courses that cover essential topics related to community supports, holistic well-being, and professionalism. The learning environment encourages collaboration among students, fostering a cooperative atmosphere where everyone contributes and learns from one another.
