Program overview

The Early Learning and Child Care diploma program at NorQuest College is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge to support child development and provide quality care. This program prepares graduates for the Early Childhood Educator III certification through Alberta Children’s Services. Students will learn to nurture children's growth through play and care, ultimately leading to impactful roles in early childhood education.

Program structure

The Early Learning and Child Care diploma program spans over 4 terms, providing a comprehensive education in child care and development. The program is structured to include:

  • In-person classes with face-to-face instruction.
  • A total of 800 hours of work experience through four practicums, ensuring hands-on learning.
  • Opportunities for students who have completed the certificate to transfer directly into Year 2 of the diploma program.

This program is recognized for its excellence by Colleges and Institutes Canada and is designed to prepare students for a successful career in early childhood education.
