Program overview

The Master of Arts in Business Economics (MABE) program at Wilfrid Laurier University is designed to prepare students for a successful career as professional economists in both the private and public sectors. This program uniquely combines business economics with rigorous training in economic theory, quantitative methods, and applied research. With a focus on flexibility, students can tailor their education to align with their career aspirations by selecting courses from various disciplines, including economics and MBA electives. Program structure

The MABE program is structured to provide both depth and flexibility in your studies. It can be completed in 12 months for full-time students or 16 to 20 months if you opt for the co-op option. The program includes:

  • Nine courses in total
  • Four core courses focused on economic theory, applied analysis, and quantitative methods
  • Three electives tailored to your interests and career goals
  • A Master Research Paper and Seminar, which together are equivalent to two courses

In the final term, students will engage in a major research paper that often draws inspiration from their coursework or co-op experience. The co-op option allows students to gain practical experience while studying, enhancing their employability upon graduation.
