Program Overview

The Addictions and Mental Health Counselling major in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program at the University of Lethbridge is the only one of its kind in Canada. This unique program equips students with both practical skills and theoretical knowledge essential for roles in treatment, prevention, and health promotion related to addictions and mental health.

Program Structure

The Bachelor of Health Sciences - Addictions Counselling program is designed to provide a comprehensive education over a flexible program length. Students can choose to complete their studies at their own pace, with options to take:

  • 5 courses per term for a standard completion time.
  • 3 or 4 courses per term to extend the program to five or six years.

Additionally, students have the opportunity to participate in an optional co-op program, which includes:

  • Two internships that provide valuable experience in local, national, or international placements.

This hands-on experience is crucial for students, as many graduates find immediate success in the job market due to the practical skills they acquire throughout the program.
