Academic Requirements

Language Requirements

To apply for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - English and French Studies program at the University of Windsor, applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be achieved by obtaining satisfactory scores on one of the following accepted English proficiency tests:

• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
• Carleton Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL)
• International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Academic
• Pearson Test of English (PTE) - Minimum score of 65 for IELTS of 6.5, and a minimum score of 68 for IELTS of 7.0.
• Duolingo English Test - Minimum score of 120.
• International Language Academy of Canada (ILAC) - Completion of the ILAC Pathway Program Level 3.3.
• International Centre for English for Academic Preparation Inc. (ICEAP) - Completion of the ICEAP Toronto Education Cohort Program with an EAP Certificate and a minimum grade of 70%.

All test scores are valid for two years from the date the test was taken, and they must be valid at the beginning of the term in which the student starts their program. If accepted, all test results should be sent directly to the University of Windsor's Office of the Registrar-Graduate Studies Division.

Applicants may be exempt from submitting an English language proficiency examination score if they meet any of the following conditions:

1. Within the past two years, you have completed a university degree at a Canadian institution.
2. Within the past two years, you have completed a university degree at an institution where English was the primary language of instruction.
