Academic Requirements

To apply for the Bachelor of Wildlife Conservation program at UPEI, students must meet the following academic requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited NAWTA college program.
• A minimum average of 70% is required for eligibility to apply.
• Students must demonstrate that they have been vaccinated for Rabies, or obtain a Rabies vaccination during the first year of their program.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

  • Biology 4910—Wildlife Conservation and Environmental Management Practicum
• 7 Core Courses in Other Departments including:

  • Environmental Studies 4310—Environmental Impact Assessment

Language Requirements

The language of instruction at the University of Prince Edward Island is English. All academically admissible applicants are required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language prior to undertaking studies. Proficiency may be demonstrated by:

Accepted English Language Tests:

• IELTS (Academic):
  • Overall score of 6.5 with no band below 6
  • Overall score of 7 with 7 in writing and speaking; 6.5 in reading and listening (for specific programs)
• TOEFL paper-based test: 550 with minimum TWE of 5.5
• TOEFL internet-based test: 4.5, with no band below 4
• TOEFL essentials: 8.5 (overall) no score below 8.0
• CAEL (including CAEL Online): 60
• Pearson Test of English: 58
• Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency:
  • Overall score of 176 with 176 in writing and no other skill below 169
  • Overall score of 185 with 185 in writing and speaking; 176 in reading and listening (for specific programs)
• GTEC CBT: 1176–1250
• Duolingo: Overall score: 120 with minimum subscores of 115 in all categories
• Oxford ELLT: Overall 7 with no individual component below 6
• English 621: 70%

Applicants with scores below the minimum may be admitted conditionally, except for those seeking admission to Nursing, Radiography, Education, or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine programs.
