Academic Requirements

To apply for the Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education - Mathematics program, students must meet the following Academic Requirements:

Completion of five academic subjects from high school (higher secondary education).
For students from Vietnam, a minimum average of 4.9 in all five required subjects in the graduation exam (Thi Tot Nghiep THPT/Tuyen Sinh Cao Dang-Dai Hoc) is necessary to receive an unconditional offer. Note that no subjects can have a grade below 4, and Civic Education cannot be included in the admission average calculation.
Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

It is important to note that students applying to the Faculty of Engineering must achieve a minimum average of 6.9 in all five required subjects to receive an unconditional offer.

Language Requirements

Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL): Minimum score of 70 with no band less than 60.
PTE Academic: Minimum score of 61 with no less than 60 in each communicative skill.
Cambridge English Scale: Minimum score of 180 on C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with no less than 170 in each skill.
Completion of the University of Alberta’s EAP 136/INT D 137.

Additionally, applicants may fulfill the English language proficiency requirement through:

Successful completion of three years of full-time education in English in Canada or in another country where English is recognized as an official language of instruction.
Graduation from a recognized degree program offered by an accredited university where English is the primary language of instruction.
