Academic Requirements

For students interested in the Bachelor of Science - Water Sciences (Honours) program, here are the Academic Requirements specifically for international students:

• Minimum GPA: A minimum average of 70% in the best six 4U/M courses is required.
• Transcripts: Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.
• Application Process: International students applying to multiple universities should apply through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre. If applying only to Trent University, use the International Contract Application.
• Prerequisite Courses: Specific prerequisite courses may be required, and students should refer to the admission chart for program-specific requirements.
• Application and Document Requirements:
  • Use OUAC 105 or Trent direct application.

• Minimum Average: A minimum average of 7.0 in Grade 12 (only academic courses are taken into average calculation).
• English Proficiency: English language proficiency test results are normally required for direct admission. However, students in the CBSE curriculum are exempt from providing these results.

Language Requirements

At Trent University, it is essential for students to demonstrate proficiency in both spoken and written English. This proficiency is crucial for meeting the demands of classroom instruction, completing written assignments, and actively participating in tutorials and discussions.

Applicants whose first language is not English are typically required to provide proof of English proficiency through one of the following accepted tests:

• TOEFL / TOEFL IBT / TOEFL IBT Special Home Edition: 86 IBT with a minimum writing score of 20.
• IELTS: 6.5, with no band below 6.0.
• The Duolingo English Test: 115 (Note: Duolingo is not accepted by the School of Graduate Studies at Trent, and is only applicable for Undergraduate applications).
• CAEL | CAEL On-line (starting July 2020): 60.
• Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency (Certificate of Advanced English): 176, with no sub-score below 169.
• Pearson PTE Academic In-person & Online: 59.
• Trent Academic ESL Program: Academic English II with 75% in all courses.
