Academic Requirements

For students interested in the Bachelor of Science - Environmental and Resource Science and Business (Honours) program, the following Academic Requirements apply:

• Minimum GPA: A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) is required for admission.
• International Students:
  • For students from Vietnam, a minimum average of 7.0 in Grade 12 (only academic courses are taken into average calculation) is required.
  • English language proficiency test results are normally required for direct admission to undergraduate studies. However, students in the CBSE curriculum are exempted from providing English Language Proficiency test.
• Transcripts: Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.
• Application Process:
  • Use OUAC 105 or Trent direct application.
  • Submit your secondary school in-progress or final transcript, including Grade 12 results.
  • Submit your English language proficiency test results via MyTrent if applicable.

Language Requirements

At Trent University, it is essential for students to demonstrate proficiency in both spoken and written English. This proficiency is crucial for meeting the demands of classroom instruction, completing written assignments, and participating in tutorials and discussions.

Applicants whose first language is not English are typically required to submit proof of English proficiency through one of the following accepted tests:

• TOEFL / TOEFL IBT / TOEFL IBT Special Home Edition: 86 IBT with a minimum writing score of 20.
• IELTS: 6.5, with no band below 6.0.
• The Duolingo English Test: 115 (Note: Duolingo is not accepted by the School of Graduate Studies at Trent, and is only applicable for Undergraduate applications).
• CAEL | CAEL On-line (starting July 2020): 60.
• Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency (Certificate of Advanced English): 176, with no sub-score below 169.
• Pearson PTE Academic In-person & Online: 59.
• Trent Academic ESL Program: Academic English II with 75% in all courses.

It is important to note that English Language Proficiency requirements are subject to change without prior notice.

For those who may qualify for exemptions from providing proof of English language proficiency, the following categories apply:

1. Completion of the International Baccalaureate diploma where English was the language of instruction.
2. At least 3 years of full-time study in a high school where the medium of instruction is entirely English.
3. At least 2 years of full-time study in a community college where the medium of instruction is entirely English.
4. At least 1 year of full-time study in a university where the medium of instruction is entirely English.

Trent University reserves the right to request English proficiency test scores from any applicant, regardless of whether they meet the published exemption requirements.
