Academic Requirements for International Students

To apply for the Master of Arts in Tourism Management at Royal Roads University, international applicants must meet the following criteria:

Academic Qualifications:

Completion of a four-year (or comparable) undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, preferably in a related field, with a minimum GPA of 3.00/4.33 .

Professional Experience:

At least two years of full-time work experience within the tourism or hospitality industry; or,
A satisfactory or pass grade for industry-related internship or co-op experiences comprising a total of at least 840 hours over a total of at least 24 weeks .

Flexible Admission:

Applicants who do not meet the standard Academic Requirements may be considered for flexible admission. This pathway assesses a combination of work experience, education, and professional development to determine eligibility .

Additional Requirements:

Submission of official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended. In some cases, transcripts may need to be evaluated by WES (World Education Services).

English Language Requirements

Applicants whose primary language is not English must demonstrate proficiency through one of the following tests:

TOEFL iBT: Overall score of 88 with a minimum of 24 in writing, and 20 in listening, reading, and speaking.
PTE Academic: Overall score of 60 with a minimum of 60 in writing and speaking, and 58 in listening and reading.
Duolingo English Test: Overall score of 115 with a minimum of 110 in literacy, comprehension, and conversation; and 115 in production .
