Academic Requirements for International Students

Standard Admission:

Completion of a four-year (or equivalent) undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
A minimum cumulative GPA of B+ (3.33/4.33).
At least five years of leadership experience.

Applicants who meet the degree requirement but have been away from academic writing for more than 10 years will normally be required to take the “Academic Writing and Critical Thinking” course offered through Continuing Studies at Royal Roads University and obtain a minimum B+ (77%) prior to commencing the program.

Flexible Admission:

Applicants who do not meet the standard Academic Requirements will be considered for flexible admission and assessed as follows:
At least 10 years of professional experience, with five of those years in leadership roles.
Flexible admission applicants will normally be required to take the “Academic Writing and Critical Thinking” course offered through Continuing Studies at Royal Roads University and obtain a minimum B+ (77%) prior to commencing the program.

Additional Requirements:

A detailed resume highlighting leadership experience.
A personal statement outlining leadership philosophy and goals.
Two letters of reference.

Language Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency through one of the following standardized tests:

IELTS Academic: Overall score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.5 in writing and speaking, and 6.0 in listening and reading.
TOEFL iBT: Overall score of 88, with a minimum of 24 in writing, and 20 in listening, reading, and speaking.
PTE Academic: Overall score of 60, with a minimum of 60 in writing and speaking, and 58 in listening and reading.
Duolingo English Test (DET): Overall score of 115, with a minimum of 110 in literacy, comprehension, and conversation; and 115 in production.
