The Cosmetology Diploma program at Northern Lights College prepares students for a rewarding career in the beauty industry. This program encompasses essential training in both hairstyling and esthetics, focusing on personal care services that include hair, skin, and nail treatments. The Cosmetology Diploma program is structured to provide comprehensive training over a period of two years, with each year consisting of approximately 38 weeks of study. The program includes:

  • Hairstylist training and Esthetics training, each approximately 32 weeks in length.
  • A professional portfolio course to help students compile their work and experiences.
  • Large practical components where students work in NLC salons, gaining real-world experience.
  • The opportunity to complete both programs sequentially, allowing flexibility in course order.

Students will engage in theory, salon operations training, and hands-on client days, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience. Additionally, a capstone project will be produced, combining skills from both disciplines, culminating in a comprehensive demonstration of their learning.
