Program Overview

NAIT’s Geoscience Technology program offers students a comprehensive education and hands-on training in the field of earth sciences. This program is designed to equip graduates with the necessary skills to contribute to various sectors, including environmental, energy, and mining industries. Students will gain a solid understanding of geology, hydrogeology, geophysics, and geochemistry, which are essential for making informed decisions in resource exploration and environmental remediation. The program emphasizes practical experience, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for the challenges of the workforce.

Program Structure

The Geoscience Technology program is structured to provide a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The program length can be completed in 1, 2, or 3 semesters, allowing flexibility for students based on their individual needs and career goals. Key features of the program include:

  • Hands-on training through lectures and labs.
  • Two one-week Field Schools, one in the Canadian Rockies and another on campus.
  • Co-op options available for students who meet specific course requirements.

Students can expect to spend approximately 28 hours per week in classes and labs, along with an additional 10 to 20 hours for studying and completing assignments.
