Academic Requirements

To apply for the Digital Design Diploma program at NorQuest College, applicants must meet the following Academic Requirements:

• Language Arts Requirement: This requirement can be met with any of the following, or an equivalent course:
  • 60% in English 30-1, or 65% in English 30-2
  • Successful completion of the General Education Development test (GED) with a standard score of 520 in Language Arts: Reading and Writing
  • Academic Assessment - Applicants who have submitted an application may be able to meet their academic requirements with a free assessment. Email LOA Portal's advisors for assistance.

Practicum/Work Experience Requirements: To enroll in DESN2998 - Digital Design Capstone Research and Planning in your second year, you must successfully complete all the required courses from your first year. International students must obtain a co-op work permit before beginning the work-integrated learning component of the program.

Progression and Graduation: Students must receive a minimum C grade in all year one courses to progress to year two of the program. Year two courses require a minimum D grade in all courses. A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 1.30 in the program’s courses is required to qualify for graduation.

Language Requirements

If English is not your first language, you must provide proof of English language proficiency before admission. These results must be no more than two years old when you start your program.

Test scores we accept:

• IELTS Academic: 6.0; no section score below 6.0
• TOEFL iBT: 83; no section score below 21
• Cambridge English Language Assessment: 180; no section score below 165
• CAEL: 70; no section score below 70
• PTE Academic: 59-64; no section score below 56
• Duolingo: 110

Or one of:

• Successful completion of an Alberta Education English Language Arts course that is consistent with the specified academic Academic Requirements for the Career Program
• Transcripts demonstrating successful completion of three (3) years of full-time secondary education at a school where English was the language of instruction
• Transcripts demonstrating successful completion of one (1) year of full-time post-secondary education at a school where English was the language of instruction
