Program overview
Niagara College’s Short Term English for Academic Preparation (EAP) program is designed to help students build confidence and master essential English language skills. This program is ideal for internationally trained learners who aim to succeed in college, university, or the workplace. With a focus on improving academic and professional English, students will be well-prepared to meet the demands of postsecondary education in English-speaking environments. The program offers flexible intake options throughout the year, allowing students to start their studies in January, March, May, July, September, or November. The Short Term EAP option allows students to immerse themselves in Canadian culture and enhance their English skills in as little as two months.
Program structure
The Short Term EAP program at Niagara College is structured to provide a comprehensive learning experience over a two-month period. Here are some key features of the program:
- Flexible intake options available throughout the year.
- Classes are scheduled Monday to Friday, with 23 to 25 hours of instruction per week.
- Students can choose to fast-track their progress with the Short Term EAP option, which covers half of the level curriculum.
- Four-month sessions are also available for those who wish to study longer.
- Students will earn a certificate of achievement upon successful completion of Level 5.
This program is open to all international students and Canadian students who speak English as an Additional Language. It is important to note that the EAP program is not eligible for Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) funding.
