Program Overview

The Skilled Trades Techniques: Carpentry program is designed for individuals interested in exploring various trades before committing to a specific field. In the first year, students will examine multiple trade areas, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, truck and transport, and marine diesel mechanics. This program equips students with essential skills such as safety practices, rigging and hoisting, tool usage, communication, mathematics, and blueprint reading, which are vital across all trades.

 

In the second year, students will specialize in their chosen trade, gaining in-depth knowledge and practical experience. The program emphasizes hands-on learning in workshops and includes a work placement during the second year. Graduates are well-prepared for a career in trades, with many securing job offers even before graduation, reflecting the high demand for skilled tradespeople in New Brunswick.

The Skilled Trades Techniques: Carpentry program spans a total of two academic years of full-time study. The structure of the program is as follows:
