Obtain a prescription to the world of pharmacy practice with the Pharmacy Technician program at Mohawk College. This program offers students a unique opportunity to engage in simulated pharmacy lab experiences and work placements, ensuring they are well-prepared for a career in the pharmacy field. The program is designed to meet the Entry to Practice Competencies for Pharmacy Technicians, as established by the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA). With a focus on hands-on learning and professional development, students will gain the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in various pharmacy settings.

Program structure

The Pharmacy Technician program at Mohawk College is structured to provide a comprehensive education over a period of two academic years, which consists of 8 months per year. This program includes:

  • Hands-on learning experiences in both community and hospital pharmacy settings.
  • Simulated pharmacy lab experiences to enhance practical skills.
  • Work placements that allow students to apply their knowledge in real-world environments.
  • Opportunities to work in interprofessional teams, fostering collaboration and understanding of the healthcare system.

Students will also have the chance to participate in clinical placements, which are essential for refining their skills and gaining valuable experience in the pharmacy field.
