Program Overview

The Rehabilitation Assistant program at MITT equips students with essential knowledge and skills to provide safe and competent rehabilitative care to clients and their families. Under the supervision of professionals such as speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, and physical therapists, students learn to perform various duties effectively. The program emphasizes the importance of communication and client safety through practical simulations. Additionally, students engage in two preceptor-led work practicum rotations, each lasting six weeks, allowing them to gain real-world experience and enhance their skills. Participation in MITT’s Bridging to Work workshops further prepares students with the employability and essential skills that employers seek.

The Rehabilitation Assistant program is designed to be completed in 1 year full-time. The structure of the program includes:

  • Two preceptor-led work practicum rotations, each lasting six weeks.
