Academic Requirements

To be eligible for the Bachelor of Arts in Global Health Studies at the Centre for Global Studies, students must meet the following Academic Requirements:

Completion of first-year requirements including a minimum cumulative average of 65% in 3.0 principal courses with no grade lower than 60%. These principal courses must include:

1.0 course: Health Sciences 1001A/B, Health Sciences 1002A/B
1.0 essay course, satisfied with either two half–year courses or one full–year course.
2.0 first-year courses may be taken from across the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Sciences. Recommended courses include:
- Geography 1400F/G
- Geography 1500F/G
- Sociology 1020
- Sociology 1025A/B
- Sociology 1027A/B

Students should also note the Diversality Requirement for graduation in this module when selecting first-year courses.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

If you have not studied for a minimum of four years (including the final year) in an institution where the language of instruction is English, you are required to submit a satisfactory English Language Proficiency test score. Huron requires one of the following:

IELTS
- Minimum overall score: 6.5
- No section less than: 6.0
TOEFL (iBT) and Home Edition
- Minimum overall score: 83
- No section less than: 20
CAEL
- Minimum overall score: 60
- No section less than: 60
PTE ACADEMIC
- Minimum overall score: 58
- No section less than: 56
DUOLINGO
- Minimum overall score: 115
- No section less than: 100

Students who do not meet Huron’s English language requirement but are academically admissible will automatically be admitted into an Academic English program.

THE ENGLISH BOOST PROGRAM

Students who qualify take ESL in July and August before starting full-time at Huron in September.

ACADEMIC ENGLISH PROGRAM

After successful completion of the High Advanced Level, students begin full-time studies at Huron. The length of the program is dependent on English language proficiency.

Huron offers students conditional acceptance into undergraduate studies pending final completion of an approved language program. Students who successfully complete the language program will not have to provide an English Language Proficiency test examination score.
