Academic Requirements

The Academic Requirements for the Electrical Techniques program at Fanshawe College are as follows:

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with courses from the College (C), University (U), University/College (M), or Open (O) stream, or equivalent, or mature applicant status.
• Students who do not have a high school diploma may wish to consider taking the Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) grade 12 Equivalency Certificate.

For international students, the admission equivalencies depend on the country of study. It is recommended to check the specific requirements based on your location.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

In terms of academic preparation, it is recommended that applicants have:

• Grade 11 or Grade 12 Construction Technology (C)
• Grade 11 or Grade 12 Computer Engineering Technology (M)
• Grade 12 Mathematics for College Technology (C) OR Grade 12 Foundations for College Mathematics (C)

For those seeking advanced standing, credit for any course in the program will be given to students who can demonstrate that they have the required skills to meet the objectives of the course or equivalent college credit.

In the event that the number of eligible applicants exceeds the available spaces in the program, the following selection criteria will be applied:

1. Preference for Permanent Residents of Ontario
2. Receipt of Application by February 1st (after this date, Fanshawe College will consider applicants on a first-come, first-served basis until the program is full)
3. Achievement in the Academic Requirements

Note: Admission to the Fanshawe College Pre-Technology program does not guarantee admission in a subsequent year to the Electrical Techniques program. However, successful completion of the Pre-Technology program does enable the student to be given additional consideration when applying to the Electrical Techniques program.

Language Requirements

The English language requirements for the Electrical Techniques program at Fanshawe College are as follows:

• TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 79
• IELTS Academic: Overall score of 6.0 with no score less than 5.5 in any of the four bands
• CAEL: Overall score of 60 with no score less than 50 in any of the four bands; score of 80 in listening
• PTE Academic: Minimum score of 53
• Cambridge English: Overall score of 169 with no language skill less than 162
• ESL4/GAP5: Minimum grade of 80% in Level 8, 75% in Level 9, or 70% in Level 10
• Duolingo: Overall score of 105, with no score lower than 95
