The General Arts and Science: English Language Studies (ELS) program is designed to enhance your academic English language skills, preparing you for further post-secondary education in Ontario. This two-year certificate program focuses on developing essential skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, with a particular emphasis on pronunciation. Students will also engage in credit-based courses that provide knowledge about Canada, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience. The program is available for students in the fall, winter, and spring/summer terms, making it accessible for various schedules.

Program structure

The General Arts and Science: English Language Studies program spans a two-year period, structured to provide a comprehensive learning experience. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Four levels of English language instruction, each lasting one full term (15 weeks).
  • Placement in one of the four levels based on the results of the Conestoga English Language Assessment and Placement (CELAP) test.
