Program Overview

Become a culturally competent Social Service Worker with Cambrian College's Indigenous Specialization diploma. This interactive program delivers a client-centered approach that is culturally relevant, embedding the Anishnabek/Indigenous perspective throughout. You will be prepared to impact the lives of Indigenous individuals and communities effectively. Through a combination of theory-based learning and hands-on practice, you will develop the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities necessary for success in the human services field. The program emphasizes the importance of social work values and principles, ensuring you are job-ready upon graduation. Program Structure

The Social Services Worker – Indigenous Specialization program is designed to be completed in 4 semesters over 2 years. This full-time program is delivered on campus and includes:

  • Two extensive field placements within community organizations, providing real-world experience.
  • Eligibility to register with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers upon graduation.
  • Option to earn a second diploma in another community services program within one year after graduation.

This program structure ensures that students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, preparing them for a successful career in social services.
