Academic Requirements

For the Front-End Web Developer program, applicants must meet specific academic requirements to ensure they are prepared for the challenges of the course. Here are the key requirements:

Entrance Requirements:

Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency, equivalent to English Studies 12 (50%) or a recognized equivalent.

International Applicants:

This program is open to international students, and a valid BCIT study permit is required prior to starting the program.
Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Prerequisite Courses:

No prerequisites are required for the following courses:
- FWDP 1000 - Web Development 1
- FWDP 1100 - Web Design Fundamentals
- FWDP 1200 - UX Fundamentals
- FWDP 1400 - Web Scripting 1
However, some courses do have prerequisites:
- FWDP 2000 - Web Development 2 requires FWDP 1000.
- FWDP 2200 - Web Design Process requires FWDP 1100.
- FWDP 2400 - Web Scripting 2 requires FWDP 1000.
- FWDP 3400 - Web Scripting 3 requires FWDP 1000 and FWDP 1400.
- FWDP 4500 - Capstone Project requires FWDP 2000, FWDP 2200, FWDP 2400, FWDP 3600, and FWDP 3700.

Language Requirements

Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Test - 80 overall band score with no component below 70
Duolingo English Test - 130 overall, No integrated subscore less than 105
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Overall score 65, No skill score less than 60
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) - Overall score 90, No section score less than 20
Cambridge Assessment English - C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with minimum overall score of 185
