Program Overview

The Post-Degree Diploma in Fisheries and Aquaculture is designed for students who have already completed a Bachelor of Science in biology or a related discipline. This program offers specialized learning and practical experiences in fisheries, aquaculture, and aquatic conservation. It aims to enhance prior credentials and prepare graduates for fulfilling careers or further studies. The program includes a significant work experience component, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in various settings, such as government research labs, aquaculture farms, and environmental consulting firms. Students will have the opportunity to tailor their learning to their interests through consultation with the program Chair.

 

Program Structure

The Post-Degree Diploma in Fisheries and Aquaculture is a one-year program consisting of two semesters. The program requires a total of 36 credits for completion. Key components of the program structure include:

  • Work Experience: Students will engage in work placements coordinated with the Department Chair, providing practical experience in relevant fields.
  • Course Selection: Students can choose from a variety of courses covering topics such as aquaculture, fisheries management, and habitat assessment, along with elective courses from diverse disciplines.
  • Completion Requirements: Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 and can accumulate no more than two “C-” grades throughout the program.
  • Time Frame: Students have a maximum of two years to complete the program.
