Academic Requirements

To apply for the Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Physics-Mathematics (OUY) (French Immersion) program at the University of Ottawa, international students, particularly those from Vietnam and other Asian countries, should be aware of the following Academic Requirements:

International students must:

• Have received or be in the process of receiving their Senior High School Certificate - Bằng Tốt Nghiệp Trung Học Phổ Thông.
• Have a minimum average of 7.5/10 and have passed five subjects (including the prerequisites) in the senior year. Requirements may be higher depending on the program of study chosen.
• Complete all prerequisites in the senior year unless otherwise indicated.

For those who have taken postsecondary courses, the following applies:

• Have a minimum average of 70% (requirements might be higher depending on the program of study chosen).
• Have passed the prerequisites for the program of study (minimum of 5/10 required). Unless otherwise indicated, all prerequisites must be completed in the final year or at the postsecondary level.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

If you’re applying for an English-language program and have not completed at least three years of full-time study in an institution where English is the only language of instruction (aside from in language courses) in a country where English is an official language, you must submit your official score in one of the following language tests. The official results must be sent directly to us online from the test centre.

In order to be considered for a program offered in English at the University of Ottawa, you must demonstrate that you are sufficiently proficient in the language to follow a postsecondary academic program. Please note that citizenship is not considered when evaluating English proficiency. To show that your English proficiency is at the academic level required for university studies, provide proof of either:

• Postsecondary studies in English; or
• Last three years of high school taken in English (Grades 10, 11 or 12)

• TOEFL IBT (Overall score: 86, Writing section: 22)
• TOEFL Home edition (Overall score: 86, Writing section: 22)

• Duolingo English Test (Overall score: 120, Literacy: 120)
• PTE (Overall score: 60, Writing section: 60)
• Cambridge English B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency (Overall score: 180)
• CAEL (Overall score: 60, Reading, Speaking, and Listening performance sections: 60)
