Academic Requirements

For students interested in the Bachelor of Arts - Sociology (Honours) program, the following Academic Requirements apply:

International students must meet specific academic criteria based on their educational background.
For students from Vietnam, a minimum average of 7.0 in Grade 12 is required, calculated from academic courses only.
English language proficiency test results are typically required for direct admission to undergraduate studies. However, students from the CBSE curriculum in India are exempt from providing these results.
Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Application and document requirements include:

Use the OUAC 105 or Trent direct application.
Submit a secondary school in-progress or final transcript, which should include Grade 12 results.
Students should submit their transcripts and any required English proficiency test results via MyTrent. Alternatively, schools can email transcripts directly to the admissions office.
Upon receiving an admission offer and deciding to enroll, a final secondary school transcript and graduation diploma must be provided as soon as they become available.

Language Requirements

All students must provide proof of English proficiency if their first language is not English. The following English language proficiency tests are accepted:

TOEFL / TOEFL IBT / TOEFL IBT Special Home Edition: 86 IBT with a minimum writing score of 20.
IELTS: 6.5, with no band below 6.0.
The Duolingo English Test: 115 (Note: Duolingo is NOT accepted by the School of Graduate Studies at Trent, and is only applicable for Undergraduate applications.)
CAEL | CAEL On-line: 60.
Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency (Certificate of Advanced English): 176, with no sub-score below 169.
Pearson PTE Academic In-person & Online: 59.
Trent Academic ESL Program: Academic English II with 75% in all courses.

It is important to note that English Language Proficiency requirements are subject to change without prior notice. If you have results from a recognized Canadian University English language testing service, you may submit your results for consideration.
