Massage Therapy

Academic Requirements

To apply for the Massage Therapy program at Sheridan, applicants must meet the following academic requirements:

Program eligibility:

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, including these required courses:
  • One English, Grade 12 (ENG4C or ENG4U)
• Biology, Grade 11 or 12 (C or U)
• Grade 12 Introductory Kinesiology (PSK4U) and/or Exercise Science (PSE4U) or equivalent recommended.
• Alternatively, applicants may qualify through Mature student status.

Applicant selection:

Eligible applicants are selected based on academic achievement, using the average GPA of their six highest grades, including the required courses listed above.

International applicants:

• Official postsecondary transcripts, indicating courses completed to date, and credential must be submitted at the time of application. If the transcripts/certificates are not in English, they must be accompanied by a notarized, official translation into English. Translated copies must also be accompanied by a copy of the original transcript.
• International applicants need to follow the international application process.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

All applicants to Sheridan must demonstrate English-language proficiency. The following English-language proficiency tests are accepted for the Massage Therapy program (Advanced Diploma - Undergraduate level):

• Sheridan’s EAP program:
  • A minimum score of 70% in listening and speaking and 70% in reading and writing.
• Sheridan EPA test (English Proficiency Assessment):
  • Listening Band – 4.0
  • Reading Combined Band – 4.0
  • Writing – CLB 7
• CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language):
  • Overall score 60 with no individual section below 50.
• Cambridge English Test Exams (B2 First/C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency):
  • Overall Cambridge English Scale score 169 with no individual score below 162.
• Duolingo English Language Test:
  • Overall score of 105 with no integrated subscore lower than 85.
• IELTS Academic Level:
  • Overall score 6.0 with no individual band below 5.5.
• iTEP Academic-Plus:
  • Overall score 3.7.
• LanguageCert Academic:
  • Overall score 65 with no individual skill score below 60.
• PTE Academic:
  • Overall score 58 with no individual section below 49.
• TOEFL iBT:
  • Overall score 80 with no individual section below 20.
