Academic Requirements

For the Dual Degree - Bachelor of Arts - Political Science & Bachelor of Education - Junior/Intermediate (PEA) program, the following Academic Requirements apply:

High School Applicants:
- Minimum 70% on 6 4U and/or 4M courses including prerequisites for the degree program applied to with Concurrent Education (i.e., BA, BSc, BFA, BBA, BPHE).
- Minimum 70% in ENG4U.
- Minimum 60% in 3U or 3M Mathematics.
University Transfer Applicants:

Admissions consideration requires the completion of a minimum of 18 credits of undergraduate study, and no more than 72 university credits (including transfer/advanced standing credits). A minimum 70% overall average on all university courses completed is required. Completion of a 3U or 3M Mathematics (or equivalent) with a minimum grade of 60% or a university or college level Mathematics (not Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) Program courses or Statistics) with a minimum grade of 60% is also required.

College Transfer Applicants:

Admissions consideration requires the successful completion of a minimum of one full year at the college level with a minimum overall GPA of 70%. Applicants must present a minimum of 70% in one semester of English or Communications at the college level (not Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) Program courses) or ENG4U from high school with a minimum grade of 70%. A minimum 60% in one semester of Mathematics (not Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) Program courses or Statistics) at the college level or a 3U or 3M Mathematics from high school with a minimum grade of 60% is also required.

Early Childhood Diploma Graduates:

Admissions consideration requires the successful completion of an ECE diploma with a minimum overall GPA of 70% and eligibility for admission consideration to Nipissing University’s Bachelor of Arts (BA) Honours Specialization degree program based on their ECE diploma.

Nipissing University Students – Upper Year Admission:

Admissions consideration requires the completion of a minimum of 18 credits of undergraduate study at Nipissing University, and no more than 72 university credits (including transfer/advanced standing credits). A minimum 70% overall average on all university courses completed is required. Completion of a 3U or 3M Mathematics (or equivalent) with a minimum grade of 60% or a university or college level Mathematics (not Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) Program courses or Statistics) with a minimum grade of 60% is also required.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

Applicants to the Dual Degree - Bachelor of Arts - Political Science & Bachelor of Education - Junior/Intermediate (PEA) program at Nipissing University must demonstrate proficiency in English through one of the following accepted tests:

IELTS: Minimum score of 6.5 with no bands less than 6
TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 83 with at least 20 in reading, listening, and writing, and a minimum score of 22 in speaking
PTE - Pearson Test of Academic English: Minimum score of 58 with at least 56 in each section
CAE - Cambridge Assessment English: Minimum overall score of 176 with no score less than 169
CAEL/CAEL Online - Online Canadian Academic English Language: Minimum score of 60 with no band less than 60
