Program overview

The International Bachelor of Arts (iBA) is crafted to equip students for a future as global citizens. This program focuses on the study of global dynamics and worldwide issues through the lens of the Humanities and Social Sciences. The iBA aims to provide students with essential knowledge and analytical skills necessary for engaging in research and work related to cultural, economic, political, religious, and social processes on a global scale. It stands apart from the traditional Bachelor of Arts (BA) by requiring additional international studies and language courses, ensuring a comprehensive educational experience.

Program structure

The iBA program is structured to be completed in a four-year timeframe, which includes a unique study abroad internship semester. This program is designed to enhance students' understanding of international perspectives and cultural diversity. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Completion of a minimum of 120 credit hours.
  • Mandatory participation in an international experience, which can be fulfilled through:
    • Participation in a Memorial field school.
    • Studying at a non-Canadian institution.
    • Engaging in an international work placement outside of Canada.
  • Incorporation of designated international studies courses and language study courses.
  • Honours options available, varying by major.
