Program Overview

The Museum and Gallery Studies program at Georgian College is designed to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in museum and gallery work. This program emphasizes the importance of experiential learning, allowing students to build a portfolio while networking with professionals in the field. Students will engage in hands-on experiences, including working with Georgian College’s The Campus Gallery and its extensive art and ceramic collection. Program Structure

The Museum and Gallery Studies program is a 1-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate program. It offers both full-time and part-time delivery options, allowing flexibility for students. The program structure includes:

  • Three semesters of study
  • Hands-on learning experiences through technical practice
  • A four-month co-op work placement in the third semester
  • Engaged curriculum that connects theory with practice

Students will spend the first two semesters in class, focusing on developing their skills and knowledge in various aspects of museum and gallery work. The final semester is dedicated to portfolio development and gaining practical experience through an internship, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for their future careers.
