Academic Requirements

To apply for the Renewable Energies Technician (Co-op) program at Fanshawe College, applicants must meet the following Academic Requirements:

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or a mature applicant with the following course:

Grade 11 or 12 Math (C, M or U)

Students who do not meet the Academic Requirements are recommended for academic upgrading. A conditional offer may be possible with proof of enrolment. Alternatively, applicants may choose to do a one-year Pre-Technology preparatory program that provides all the admissions requirements for this program.

For international students, admission equivalencies depend on the country of study. It is advised to contact LOA Portal's advisors for any clarification and support regarding specific requirements based on your location.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Additionally, it is recommended that students have:

Grade 11 or Grade 12 Chemistry (C) or (U)
Grade 11 or Grade 12 Physics (C) or (U)
Increased physical fitness levels

For applicants where the number of eligible candidates exceeds available spaces, the selection criteria will include:

Preference for Permanent Residents of Ontario
Receipt of Application by February 1st (after this date, Fanshawe College will consider applicants on a first-come, first-served basis until the program is full)
Achievement in the Academic Requirements

Note: Admission to the Fanshawe College Pre-Technology program does not guarantee admission in a subsequent year to the Renewable Energies Technician program. Successful completion of the Fanshawe College Pre-Technology program, however, does enable the student to be given additional consideration when applying to the Renewable Energies Technician program.

English Language Requirements

The English language requirements for the Renewable Energies Technician (Co-op) program at Fanshawe College are as follows:

TOEFL iBT: 79
IELTS Academic: Overall score of 6.0 with no score less than 5.5 in any of the four bands
CAEL: Overall score of 60 with no score less than 50 in any of the four bands; score of 80 in listening
PTE Academic: 53
Cambridge English: Overall score of 169 with no language skill less than 162
ESL4/GAP5: Minimum grade of 80% in Level 8, 75% in Level 9, or 70% in Level 10
Duolingo: Overall score of 105, with no score lower than 95
