Program Overview

The Civil Engineering Technology program at Fanshawe College is designed to equip students with the essential skills needed to excel as civil engineering technicians. This three-year Ontario college advanced diploma program focuses on the planning, design, and construction aspects of civil engineering. Students will gain hands-on experience in designing steel frame and reinforced concrete buildings, as well as proficiency in selecting and testing construction materials. The curriculum emphasizes the use of computer-assisted design and drafting, electronic surveying methods, and technical report writing. Graduates will be well-prepared to enter the workforce, having completed a full twelve months of paid co-op experience.

Program Structure

The Civil Engineering Technology program is structured to provide a comprehensive education over a duration of 90 weeks. The program includes:

  • Three co-op work terms, allowing students to gain practical experience in the field.
  • Courses that cover both municipal and structural engineering topics.
