Program overview

The Veterinary Technology Diploma program at Douglas College prepares students to become essential members of the veterinary medical team. This program combines both theoretical knowledge and practical training in various areas such as medical and surgical nursing, anesthesia, anatomy, radiography, and more. Students will gain hands-on experience working with both small and large animals, either on campus or at off-site facilities like veterinary clinics and farms. Upon graduation, students will be eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) to become a Registered Veterinary Technologist in Canada and many parts of the United States.

Program structure

The Veterinary Technology Diploma program is designed to be completed in two years of full-time study. The program is structured as follows:

Students have the option to participate in a Co-operative Education Program, allowing them to earn money and gain relevant work experience during their studies. Please note that the part-time hybrid option is currently not accepting applications due to funding issues.
