Program Overview

The Global Competency Certificate at Douglas College is designed to enhance your cultural expertise and foster global citizenship. This 15-credit program equips students with essential skills in critical thinking and intercultural communication, preparing them to thrive in a rapidly changing, interconnected world. Students will engage in diverse learning experiences, including exchanges, field schools, or volunteer opportunities, allowing them to apply their knowledge in real-world contexts. This credential is particularly valuable for careers in various fields such as international education, refugee and immigrant services, and global supply chain management.

Program Structure

The Global Competency Certificate is structured to be self-paced, allowing students to complete the program alongside their current studies. Key features of the program include:

  • Admission Type: Open Enrolment
  • Available in Fall, Winter, and Summer semesters

Students are required to complete a total of 15 credits of coursework, including:

  • 12 credits from GCC-eligible courses
  • 3 credits from a global citizenship course

Additionally, students must complete a GCC-eligible international or intercultural learning experience to fulfill program requirements. The program must be completed within 4 years to meet graduation criteria.
