Program Overview

The Early Childhood Education (Certificate) program at Douglas College is designed to prepare students to become qualified Early Childhood Educators. This program emphasizes the importance of contributing to the well-being of children, families, and communities. Students will gain a combination of practical experience and theoretical knowledge, enabling them to work effectively with children from newborns to eight years old. The curriculum includes online classes that focus on observing, assessing, and guiding child development, as well as promoting health and nutrition. Graduates will be eligible to apply for a provincial license to practice as Early Childhood Educators in licensed preschool and child-care centers.
