Program Overview

The Bachelor of Health Sciences (Public Health) program at Cape Breton University (CBU) is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to make a significant impact on community health. This program emphasizes the importance of environmental health, focusing on maintaining health in various settings such as homes, workplaces, and recreational areas. Students can start their studies in either September (Fall) or January (Winter), providing flexibility for new entrants. Program Structure

The Bachelor of Health Sciences (Public Health) program offers a comprehensive structure that caters to various student needs. The program is available in three distinct streams:

  • Stream One: A four-year option for students graduating from high school or those without prior post-secondary education.
  • Stream Two: An accelerated two-year option for students who already possess a previous science degree or a similar diploma.
  • Stream Three: An in-career option specifically for military personnel seeking a degree, requiring certification from the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors.

All graduates receive the same credential, a Bachelor of Health Sciences, Public Health (BHSc). The program duration varies based on the chosen stream, with options for both full-time and part-time study.
