Program Overview

The Master of Arts in Film Studies is a globally-focused and interdisciplinary program that delves into critical, theoretical, and historical approaches to cinema and emerging media. The Master of Arts in Film Studies program is structured to be completed in a 1 to 2 years timeframe, providing flexibility for students to tailor their educational journey. The program offers:

  • Three streams: Coursework-only, major research paper, or thesis.
  • Collaborative Specializations in African Studies and Digital Humanities.
  • A Graduate Diploma in Curatorial Studies.
  • Experiential learning opportunities through internships.

Students are initially admitted to the coursework-only stream and can apply for a major research paper or thesis during their first semester. The program is designed to foster a collegial and supportive atmosphere, ensuring that students receive the mentorship they need to succeed.
