Program Overview

The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in European, Russian and Eurasian Studies at Carleton University provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to understanding Europe, Russia, and Eurasia. This program allows students to tailor their studies according to their interests, integrating subjects such as history, politics, economics, international affairs, language, and culture. Students will engage with critical issues including international security, nationalism, ethnic conflict, globalization, and more. The program also offers opportunities for academic exchanges in European countries and co-op employment, enhancing the learning experience through practical engagement.

Program Structure

The Bachelor of Arts in European, Russian and Eurasian Studies is designed to be completed over a four-year period of full-time study. The program structure includes:

  • 20.0 credits required for graduation
  • Core courses in European and Russian Studies, History, Political Science, and Economics
  • Language proficiency in a major regional language, which can be fulfilled through coursework or examination
  • Options for combined degrees with other BA (Honours) programs such as Political Science, Law, History, and Journalism
  • Possibility to add a minor in European and Russian Studies

Students can also participate in a co-op program, which provides practical work experience, and an internship program available for qualified fourth-year students. Additionally, exchange opportunities are offered in the third or fourth year, allowing students to study abroad.
