Program Overview

The Electrical Engineering Technician Ontario College Diploma program is a two-year course designed to equip students with essential skills and knowledge that are highly valued by employers in the electrical industry. This program focuses on the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of various electrical systems, including cable loops, phone systems, fire suppression systems, robotics, and machinery. Students will engage in a combination of theoretical coursework and extensive practical labs, ensuring they are well-prepared for real-world applications in the field.

Program Structure

The Electrical Engineering Technician program spans a two-year duration, providing a comprehensive education that combines both theory and hands-on experience. The program structure includes:

  • Extensive practical labs to apply theoretical knowledge.
  • Courses covering electrical principles, codes, and regulations.
  • Opportunities for real-world experience through a paid co-operative education (co-op) work term, subject to availability and academic eligibility.
  • Recognition by OACETT (Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists) for meeting academic requirements for certification.

Students are encouraged to register as Associate members of OACETT during their studies. Graduates may also pursue further education, such as the Electrical Engineering Technology Ontario College Advanced Diploma, which can lead to additional career opportunities.
