Academic Requirements for International Students

At Algoma University, international students looking to apply for the Graduate Certificate in Environmental Science must meet specific Academic Requirements. Here’s a detailed list of what you need to prepare:

Complete the Algoma U application.
Submit copies of all transcripts, including:
- Secondary school transcripts
- Secondary school diplomas
- Post-secondary school transcripts and diplomas/degrees, if applicable
Provide a Gap Letter/Gap Explanation if you have been out of school for more than two years. This documentation can include a resume, letters of employment, additional undeclared academic history, and/or a personal letter of explanation.
Include a copy of your Study Permit/Visa if you have completed any studies overseas, including Canada.

It is important to note that transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

For the upcoming May 2025 intake, the application deadline for overseas international applicants is February 21st, 2025. If you are currently living inside Canada with an approved Canadian study permit, the last day to apply is April 17th, 2025. Language Requirements for Graduate Certificate - Environmental Science

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Environmental Science at Algoma University, international students must demonstrate proficiency in the English language. The following English language tests are accepted, along with their respective minimum score requirements:

Additionally, students may also qualify through:

ENG4U (OSSD) or ENGL12 (BC Curriculum): 3 years of full-time studies with a minimum grade of 70%
Successful completion of a two or three-year diploma from a recognized Ontario College of Arts and Technology (a minimum of four semesters is required)
3 semesters of full-time studies (i.e., a minimum of 12 credits each semester) with a cumulative GPA of 3.0
Completion of an English Language Pathway program with one of the university's partners to bypass the English Language Test requirement.
