Program overview
Are you passionate about international policy? The Master of International Public Policy (MIPP) at the Balsillie School of International Affairs is designed for those looking to enhance their careers in international or global policy development. This program allows students to engage with leading scholars and policy practitioners, providing the tools necessary to tackle pressing global challenges. With a focus on developing essential transferrable skills such as qualitative and quantitative analysis, critical thinking, and effective communication, the MIPP prepares graduates for a wide range of careers in policy development, implementation, and evaluation.
Program structure
The MIPP program is a one-year, full-time course-based program that spans three consecutive terms, with an intake every September. Students will complete a total of twelve courses, starting with four required courses in the first term that cover core competencies in public sector economics, policy analysis, and international relations.
During the second and third terms, students can choose courses to complete one of four thematic concentrations:
- International Environmental Policy
- International Economic Relations
- Human Security
- Global Migration
This program emphasizes practical policy projects, culminating in policy briefs and small group projects. Students will have numerous opportunities to interact with faculty, senior graduate students, visiting scholars, and guest lecturers, enriching their learning experience and professional network.
