The Bachelor of Arts in North American Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University is an interdisciplinary program that explores North America as a unique historical, cultural, political, and economic entity. Students will delve into Canada’s socio-political role on the continent, focusing on key areas such as business and economy, culture and identity, public policy, and Indigenous Peoples. This program is designed to provide valuable insights into the interactions between Canada and its neighboring countries, equipping students with the skills necessary to navigate and influence cross-border issues in various professional settings. Notably, this program must be combined with another Bachelor of Arts program, allowing for a customized educational experience.

Program structure

The Bachelor of Arts in North American Studies is structured to provide a comprehensive educational experience over a four-year duration. Students have the option to:

  • Combine their studies with other Bachelor of Arts programs such as Communication Studies, English, Film Studies, Global Studies, or Women and Gender Studies.
  • Fast-track their degree and complete it in just three years by taking summer courses and working closely with an Academic Advisor.
  • Participate in a conditional pathway to Laurier’s full-time Master of Business Administration program, which includes a paid work term.

This program is offered in both full-time and part-time formats, with start dates available in September (fall term) or January (winter term). Students are encouraged to explore various course options and specializations to tailor their degree to their interests and career goals.
