Program Overview

The Bachelor of Arts & Science in Agricultural Studies & Mathematics is a unique undergraduate program that explores the intricate relationships between social, economic, political, and environmental factors affecting the agricultural sector. This program emphasizes both the art and science of agricultural practices, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of agriculture from theoretical and applied perspectives. Students will engage in extensive lab experiences and focus on current issues and cutting-edge research, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges in the agricultural field.

Program Structure

The Bachelor of Arts & Science in Agricultural Studies & Mathematics is designed to provide a well-rounded education in agriculture, combining both liberal arts and scientific approaches. The program is structured as follows:

  • Program Length: Typically completed in four years.
  • Intake: Available for both Fall and Winter semesters.
  • Concentrations: Students may declare a concentration in agricultural business.
  • Minors: Students have the option to add a minor to explore additional academic interests.
  • Honours Thesis: High-achieving students may opt to complete an Undergraduate Thesis course in their fourth year.
  • Experiential Learning: Opportunities include co-operative education, international exchanges, independent studies, and volunteer work.

This program is the only one in Alberta that offers co-operative education to all majors in the arts and sciences, allowing students to gain practical experience even before starting their classes.
