Academic Requirements

Admission Requirements – MA Political Science

Students with a BA (Honours) in Political Science or equivalent with a minimum average of 70% (B), calculated in accordance with FGPS guidelines, may be admitted directly to the MA program.
Students without a BA (Honours) in Political Science, but with a BA with a minor in Political Science or a BA in a related discipline, and a minimum average of 75% (B+), may be accepted for a qualifying year. The content will be decided in consultation with the Director of Graduate Studies in Political Science.
Students enrolling in the program in English (MA or PhD) must take and pass at least one required course in French. All students may submit assignments in French or English, but must be able to actively participate in a graduate seminar in French. At the time of admission, students must demonstrate active knowledge of French.
For the Co-op option, students must have an admission average of 75% (B+) and maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.0 (B+) in courses taken at the University of Ottawa.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact referees in advance to confirm their email address and availability.

Transcripts: 1

Upload copies of all transcripts from every university attended (including incomplete programs, exchanges, online courses, non-degree studies, etc.) through the uoDoc application.
If transcripts and degree certificates are not in English or French, a certified translation must be submitted.
University of Ottawa students do not need to submit UOttawa transcripts, except for professional rehabilitation programs which require all records.
